Woodsman Chainsaw Carrying Case is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Like size of case, but handle broke and replacement apparently not available. I was very happy with this case until this week when the handle broke and my local dealer was unable to provide a replacement handle.....they did call and talked to 3 different people at Stihl and were told its unavailable! I was disappointed when the handle broke and I'm even more disappointed to find out that I can't even buy a new handle.....

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Andreas Stihl please help I am thinking about buying my 7th or 8th Stihl chainsaw and am gritting my teeth about this carrying case. Stihl is a privately held company, owned by the descendants of Andreas Stihl and it’s great to still find such a company when all the other have been bought up by exploiters. But I think Andreas Stihl would have listened when the majority of his customers complained for over 10 years about the poor quality of the Woodsman Carrying Case. You have to have one because all chainsaws leak oil and can make a hideous mess of your truck or trailer. A simple redesign using the tips suggested by innumerable users would make this a case that would be a joy to use. Over the past 15 years I have had four of these with their defective hinges—nothing more than a thin flap of plastic—connecting the lid with the bottom and three have gone to the landfill when the plastic goes brittle and breaks. Clearly the Stihl descendants are off on their yachts and none of their hired managers are listening. Mr. Stihl, who obviously cared about quality, would have been ashamed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A proven asset This is basically the same case Stihl has been using for years. It’s a must have for the smaller saws. Won’t fit the biggest saws. It’s great protection and has saved my 261 several times including falling off the truck bed. Worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Investment I have purchased one of these for each of my three chainsaws. it is a great way to carry, transport, store, and protect your saw. It have extra space in it to care a few tools and 2 cycle oil bottles.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great saw, terrible carrying case It must be that different engineers designed the saw and the case. I had my current saw for >15 years, but has outlasted two carrying cases. Poor plastic hinge design. Had to repair both cases with metal hinges. I am now looking for a different brand case. The Stihl cases are not only cheap, they are expensive for the junk you get.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor hinge and handle As others have stated, the bending plastic hinge is a poor design. I have seen several broken with homemade/aftermarket repairs. I would have gladly paid more for a piano style hinge with a metal rod. The plastic handle could be more substantial and heavy duty; It feels as though it will break whenever you pick it up.I wish there was an optional larger case available to include the MS 661 as well as a scabbard for longer bars that was of the same integral design as the one sold with this case.I would also like to see a few loops molded into the case to tie it down - run a bungee cord, rope or strap through.Other than that, the case does a nice job of protecting the powerhead, bar and chain, as well as your vehicle or toolbox or wherever you haul your saw. I frequently take a saw in a UTU or tractor and like the case for these applications.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sometimes a picture is worth more than a thousand words This is one of those cases - literally. I am not sure why there is no picture showing where the tools are supposed to go. Yes even a monkey can eventually figure out where the T-handle is supposed to fit, try putting the idle adjust screwdriver away or a file if so desired. Why is there not enough room to store at least one bottle of 2 stroke, a quart of chain oil and a slot for a spare chain inside. I am not sure this was designed in Germany - it certainly has room/possibilities for improvement.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not so good for the Battery Saws I was disappointed that the Woodsman is ONLY designed for the Gas saws. I thought that it would be great for my new Battery Saw. BUT the bar cover is MUCH too long and doesn't fit well with the battery bars. I have had other carrying cases and they have been rigid and stable. This one is NOT. The bar cover does NOT lock into the box front as far as I can determine. (No instructions for proper use, not that I would think that I would need them, but...)
